A sharp decline in corporate share repurchases.
Since the Fed began raising rates, stock buybacks have dropped nearly 50%.
In addition, the Inflation Relief Act imposed a 1% tax on stock buybacks, which put additional pressure on them.
Share repurchases are currently at levels last seen in January 2020, i.e. just before the start of the pandemic.
Further reductions are expected until 2024.
