Binance was fined $2.2 million for providing services to Indian customers without complying with national anti-money laundering regulations.

In 2024, Binance and several other offshore cryptocurrency exchanges were banned in India for illegal activities.

However, in May, Binance and KuCoin received approval from India's Financial Intelligence Unit, subject to payment of appropriate fines.
