Bitcoin developer William Kazarin and founder of Nostr Damus stated that Ordinals disguise their data as Bitcoin script data.

In his opinion, such mechanics can be considered as an exploit, since Bitcoin is not used to store data.

He also noted that Ordinals threaten the performance and decentralization of the network.

Earlier, Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dash Jr. expressed a similar opinion.
