Bankrupt Digital Currency Group company Genesis has reached a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over the Earn program.

Genesis will pay a civil penalty of $21 million for illegally collecting money from investors in conjunction with the Gemini exchange.

However, the fine will only have to be paid if the company is able to fully repay its debts to its customers and other creditors as part of the bankruptcy case.
