Startup Zama has raised $73 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Multicoin Capital and Protocol Labs, with participation from Metaplanet, Blockchange Ventures, Vsquared Ventures and Stake Capital, Filecoin founder Juan Benet, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and Ethereum and Polkadot co-founder Gavin Wood.

Filecoin's Benet and Multicoin's Kyle Samani have joined Zama's board of directors.

Zama is a French startup that specializes in homomorphic encryption.

The company has created a confidential smart contract protocol called fhEVM that allows developers to build applications while maintaining data privacy.

Funds from the round will be used to further refine and improve the technology.
