The owners of Roma are negotiating the possible sale of the club to investors from Saudi Arabia.
La Repubblica reports that a meeting was held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Tuesday with the participation of the head of the legal department of the Giallorossi. Various topics were discussed, including sponsorship of the season in Riyadh, but the conversation went deeper.
Eric Williamson, the right-hand man of Roma's Friedkin family and a member of the capital's board of directors, traveled from the US to attend the meeting, suggesting something larger was being discussed.
Two different groups are interested in buying Roma from Dan Friedkin - the state investment fund, which already owns Newcastle, and private investor Turki Alalshih, who is a royal adviser and president of the General Entertainment Authority. At this stage, the Friedkins are hoping to enter into a partnership with one of the two Saudi groups, wanting to retain control of Roma, but both PIF and Alalshikh want 100% of the club's shares, so they have prepared offers worth around €900 million + €300 million. related to the construction of a new stadium.
The purchase of the club is still at an early stage, but new information is expected in the coming months.
