It is believed that the founders of boots are the military shoes of the Roman Empire - legionnaires wore sandals with spikes, reminiscent of boots. Kaligs were military sandals with nails on the soles.

The first written mention of boots dates back to 1526, when “football boots” were included in the Great Wardrobe of the English King Henry VIII, a great football fan💬

Technology continued to improve and by the 1890s, studs were being used to make football boots. In the 1890s, a British company (now known as Reebok) developed the most famous leather spiked sneakers 👕

In 1954, Adidas released the first modern football boots. They were lighter, had non-leather soles, kangaroo leather uppers, and included replaceable rubber or plastic rivets that could be screwed in to different lengths. Later in the 1990s, Adidas introduced another innovation in the form of rubber blades instead of studs, which were oriented in different directions and provided better grip.

Today there are different types of studs for different surfaces: replaceable aluminum studs that last in wet mud, durable plastic studs designed for general surfaces, and short plastic or rubber studs for very hard surfaces.
